A giant American pickup truck on tight European roads seems like a no-brainer, and there are very few rational reasons to prefer it over smaller European pickups. Still, I really enjoyed my week behind the wheel of the RAM 1500, where I used its utility rather than off-road capabilities.
In the United States, three vehicles lead the new car sales statistics – the Ford F-Series, the Chevrolet Silverado and the RAM. Each sells hundreds of thousands of units a year, mostly in the smallest versions, the F-150, or the other two with the 1500 designation. They are called full-size pick-up trucks and, at around six metres long, they are a good deal larger than vehicles like the Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux that we know from Europe.
